Government Spine Institute and Physiotherapy College Ahmedabad

Government Spine Institute and Physiotherapy College, established in 1998, is affiliated with Gujarat University and recognized by both the Government of Gujarat and the Gujarat State Council for Physiotherapy (GSCPT). Situated within the Civil Hospital campus in Ahmedabad one of the largest hospitals in India specializing in spinal cord treatment the college offers a robust infrastructure to support both academic and clinical training. It features well-equipped classrooms with audio-visual aids, modern laboratories for anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology, and simulation rooms that replicate real clinical settings to enhance hands-on learning. The college houses a comprehensive library with a wide range of books, journals, and digital resources in physiotherapy and allied health sciences. Its rehabilitation centers treat over 478 inpatients and 9,936 outpatients annually, offering students direct exposure to patient care. Additional facilities include auditoriums and seminar halls for academic events, sports facilities to support learning in sports injury rehabilitation, and accommodation options for students from other regions. Gujarat University Conducts the Counselling for the course Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT)

For the academic session 2025–26, admissions to Physiotherapy and other state quota courses will be conducted by Gujarat University. All updates and notifications regarding the admission process will be published on the university’s official website.

Note: Admissions to physiotherapy (BPT) courses are being brought under the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). The Minister for Medical Education has announced that NEET will be made mandatory for BPT admissions across India from the academic year 2026-27

Here is how the process typically works each year for all physiotherapy/BPT colleges in Gujarat:

Document Required for Registration:-

1.10th Passing Certificate

2. 12th Marksheet (Physics + Chemistry + Biology compulsory)

3. Identity Document - Aadhaar Card (Preferred)

4. Gujarat Domicile Certificate: (Mandatory for state-quota seats; Not required for management/NRI quota)

5. Category Certificate(If Applicable)

6.School Leaving Certificate (SLC) / Transfer Certificate (TC)

7. Migration Certificate (ONLY for other-state candidates or other boards)

8. Recent Photographs

9.Fee receipt of PIN purchase / online registration payment

B. Management Seats-

The Consortium shall issue an advertisement in two English and two Gujarati prominent newspapers widely circulated in the state, invite applications from the eligible candidates for admission to the Gujarat Professional Nursing and Allied Medical Educational Courses on the management seats. The Consortium by advertisement, shall notify the date of issue of application forms. Centers from where the application forms may be obtained and to which to be submitted, the last date for submission of application forms, details of fees to be paid, eligibility criteria, and the number of seats available for admission on the management seats. All the management seats shall be filled in by the Consortium under supervision of the Admission Committee by a single-window system based on an inter-se merit list of the candidates to be admitted against the management seats and whose name appears in the merit list prepared by the Admission Committee.

C. Non-Resident Indian Seats(NRI).

The Institution shall issue advertisements in one English and two Gujarati leading newspapers Inviting applications with details of the fees to be paid, eligibility criteria, and a number of seats available in Non-resident Indian seats. Candidates shall provide necessary documentary evidence of proof showing Non- Resident Indian Status of their own parents. Candidates passing qualifying examination from abroad shall have to produce an equivalence certificate from the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Gandhinagar, or Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi.
