Shama Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) was established in 20l6 by Shama Charitable Trust and affiliated to Gujarat University, recognized by Government of Gujarat. This college is also recognized by Gujarat State Council for Physiotherapy ( GSCPT ).

Classrooms and Lecture Halls: The classrooms are digitally equipped with modern teaching aids and a training room for all curricular training

Anatomy and Physiology Labs: These labs are essential for practical training, where students study the human body structure and functions using cadavers, models, charts, and specimens.

Physiotherapy Labs: Equipped with various machines and equipment used in physiotherapy treatments, such as ultrasound machines, electrical stimulation devices, exercise equipment, etc.

Library: A well-stocked library with books, journals, and research materials related to physiotherapy, anatomy, physiology, and related fields.

Clinical Training Facilities: Shama Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) include simulated patient care units or affiliated hospitals/clinics where students get hands-on experience treating patients under supervision and

also having MOU with near by hospital and rehabilitation center

Rehabilitation Centers: Shama Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) have their own rehabilitation centers where students can apply their knowledge in real-world settings.

Recreational Areas: Spaces for relaxation and social interaction.

Sports and Recreation Facilities: Spaces for practical training related to sports physiotherapy, including sports and exercise areas.

Gujarat University Conducts the Counselling for the course Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT)

For the academic session 2025–26, admissions to Physiotherapy and other state quota courses will be conducted by Gujarat University. All updates and notifications regarding the admission process will be published on the university’s official website.

Note: Admissions to physiotherapy (BPT) courses are being brought under the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). The Minister for Medical Education has announced that NEET will be made mandatory for BPT admissions across India from the academic year 2026-27

Seat Reservation:

• For admission, the seats shall be reserved for the candidate who is origin of Gujarat and falling under the following categories, namely.-

The admission to the Candidate in the first year of “Gujarat University” will be online.

Admission Process for BPT Course:

Here is how the process typically works each year for all physiotherapy/BPT colleges in Gujarat:

Document Required for Registration:-

1.10th Passing Certificate

2. 12th Marksheet (Physics + Chemistry + Biology compulsory)

3. Identity Document - Aadhaar Card (Preferred)

4. Gujarat Domicile Certificate: (Mandatory for state-quota seats; Not required for management/NRI quota)

5. Category Certificate(If Applicable)

6.School Leaving Certificate (SLC) / Transfer Certificate (TC)

7. Migration Certificate (ONLY for other-state candidates or other boards)

8. Recent Photographs

9.Fee receipt of PIN purchase / online registration payment

10. Medical Fitness Certificate

11. Additional Documents (if applicable)

• Gap Certificate (if there is a gap after Class 12)
• Certificate for Physically Handicapped (PwD) — only issued by a Government Civil Surgeon
• Income Certificate (only if applying under income-based schemes)

B. Management Seats-

The Consortium shall issue an advertisement in two English and two Gujarati prominent newspapers widely circulated in the state, invite applications from the eligible candidates for admission to the Gujarat Professional Nursing and Allied Medical Educational Courses on the management seats. The Consortium by advertisement, shall notify the date of issue of application forms. Centers from where the application forms may be obtained and to which to be submitted, the last date for submission of application forms, details of fees to be paid, eligibility criteria, and the number of seats available for admission on the management seats. All the management seats shall be filled in by the Consortium under supervision of the Admission Committee by a single-window system based on an inter-se merit list of the candidates to be admitted against the management seats and whose name appears in the merit list prepared by the Admission Committee.

C. Non-Resident Indian Seats(NRI).

The Institution shall issue advertisements in one English and two Gujarati leading newspapers Inviting applications with details of the fees to be paid, eligibility criteria, and a number of seats available in Non-resident Indian seats. Candidates shall provide necessary documentary evidence of proof showing Non- Resident Indian Status of their own parents. Candidates passing qualifying examination from abroad shall have to produce an equivalence certificate from the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Gandhinagar, or Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi.
